In recent times, we all witnessed the intergenerational and disparate impact that the nationwide outage of Verizon Wireless caused. That systemic failure further encouraged folks like me to be more proactive about how we will communicate during emergencies moving forward. The mission of this collaborative is to encourage more folks to learn to program and use radio telecom tech. The vision is that our local sphere of influence is able to build a safe and secure communication node by programming a private channel that can be accessed with a strong enough signal from just about anywhere in the world. This space is for all those who are interested in joining this learning community and becoming licensed amatuer radio technicians.

This is a collaboration between the Church of Black Rest and The First 10k Responders. The next training & testing date is Saturday, June 13th, 2026 from 4pm - 8pm at DAWA HQ!
